Match Report
Sherborne School 4th XI vs  Dauntsey's School Boys-U18C
On: Thursday, 13 Feb 2025
Venue: at Home

The return match with Dauntsey's saw us improve on the drawn result of our first encounter, and our victory was actually a little more emphatic than the final scoreline suggests.

Dauntsey's began brightly and took the lead after just five minutes, but Sherborne did not panic and began to build pressure of our own. On the half hour mark a long distance shot could only be parried by the Dauntsey's keeper, and Eddie S-R pounced quickly to bring us level.

The second half continued with evenly contested play before Sherborne hit a golden patch. From a well weighted corner Eddie S-R eluded his marker and his power header made it 2-1. Two minutes later some deft passing carved open the Dauntsey's back line and Felix G finished sweetly. 3-1. Then Felix G spotted the Dauntsey's keeper out of position and rolled the ball, Messi-like, from edge of the area into the bottom corner. 4-1. By now we were in cruise control and just needed to see out the final period. Sadly, we switched off and stopped playing, gifting Dauntsey's two consolation goals in the final five minutes which somewhat took the gloss off a good win.

Nevertheless, to have reached half-term undefeated merits praise, and we shall take the lessons learned from this match into our next fixtures. The future looks promising!
