An excellent (from a competitive point of view) match against Milton Abbey's 2nd XI. A tight first half should have seen us go behind when their striker had beaten an onrushing Mingo B, only to put the ball wide. The pitch was pretty good for this time of year, but it was causing some unusual bobbles and resultant handballs. Toby W and Seb H were having some joy down the right against an injured defender. This was out main outlet in a tense affair. The match opened up in the second half as legs tired. We were fortunate to have 5 subs to their none. Sam R came on in the heart of defence and then moved into a destructive midfield role. It was though his ball that led to Toby W breaking the deadlock. Someone shouted "it's 0-0" - it was that sort of game. We saw the final 15 minutes out without too many alarms - a couple of hefty back-passes from Seb H caused some anxiety, but it was all okay in the end. Will A was Player of the Day for his energy, neat control and desire to head the ball.
It was very cold for the supporters.
