The final match of the pre-season was against Berkshire under 18. They batted excellently to reach 120-2 after 20 overs. We then played our best hour of cricket of the trip by reducing them to 155-8 with Charlie R picking up 3 wickets, one courtesy of a great catch by Oz P, only slightly spoilt but the look of utter disbelief on his own face. Charlie was well supported by the two Bens who both bowled with control. Unfortunately we could not finish Berkshire off and their opener went on to an excellent undefeated hundred ably supported by the number 11. 230 was probably 40 runs too many on that wicket and the Berkshire openers made it tough for us reducing us to 32-3. A mini revival from Jordan G and Patrick R gave us hope until two catastrophic run outs scuppered our chances of victory. It took an excellent 45* from JP T, assisted by some slightly more agricultural biffing from Will W and Tom M to take us up to a respectable final total of 182 as the rain came down on the festival. It utterly failed to dampen the spirits of the team which remained high throughout the three days, an invaluable bonding exercise for a squad containing 8 debutants.
