This was not a pretty match, being played in wet and blustery conditions that affected handling for both teams. Playing against the wind in the first half, Sherborne gained the ascendancy of both territory and possession, resulting in two attritional unconverted tries.
We might have hoped to assert further dominance in the second half but KSB's defence became stronger and we made more more errors. Mid-way through the half a KSB breakaway resulted in a 2 on 1 overlap against our full back that would have made the scoreline very interesting. Fortunately for us, the crucial final pass was dropped. Few chances were created thereafter but, on balance, Sherborne deserved this grafting win, and especially so against KSB's 2nd XV. After a season characterised by narrow defeats, it was good to finish with a narrow victory.
