Match Report
Sherborne School 4th XI vs  St Edward's School, Oxford
On: Saturday, 08 Mar 2025
Venue: at Home

The form book hinted that this would be a competitive match, but Teddies were only able to travel with a depleted team and this resulted in a one-sided contest.

Sherborne went ahead within four minutes through Archie O but then conceded a clumsy penalty minutes later. Thankfully, Tom W came to the rescue with a sharp save, though the shot itself failed to hit the corner. Thereafter Sherborne dominated both territory and possession, scoring two more goals via Al P and Eddie S-R.

Our intensity dropped at the beginning of the second half, and Teddies scored a worldie from outside the box to pull a goal back. Archie O and Eddie S-R restored our 3 goal cushion and then extended it, before another clumsy Sherborne challenge following a lapse in concentration led to a second Teddies penalty. This time they did not miss. 5-2. In the final five minutes there was still time for Archie O to complete his hat trick with a long range smash, and for Al P to caress the ball into the bottom corner with the final kick of the game.

Notwithstanding the limitations of the opposition, Sherborne played some pleasing, possession-based football, but our defence will need to be more assured when we face Canford in our next fixture.
