A well contested season-opening match and a fair result.
QEH brought their 5th X1 but showed cohesion and control from the outset. Two fine saves by Mingo B kept us in the game during the first fifteen minutes, but a well-worked move down the right flank saw QEH take the lead approaching the half hour mark.
After half-time Sherborne showed the boldness to hold a higher defensive line. This resulted in more attacking opportunities and numerous offensive corners. It was from one of these that Aloysius C connected with a powerful header to bring us level. Both sides had opportunities to nick the win in the final few minutes, but, on the balance of play, this would have been a tough outcome for either team.
This was a good performance from Sherborne, and especially so after only two practices. We can approach our next fixture with growing confidence.
