Sherborne Mini Colts A 5 Millfield 40

This was a tough fixture against a very well organised Millfield team with a smattering of outstanding players. Whereas we had made plenty of yards against King’s Taunton last week, this week we came up against a defence that filled the spaces and refused to let us over the gain line. Millfield scored three tries in the first half creating space as we defended a little too narrow. The second half was a more even affair and when we finally strung together four phases Hugo DM strolled over for our only score.

We also had some joy when Will R picked up from the base of the scrum and ran at their small 9 and 10 to considerable effect. There was plenty of committed tackling especially from Freddy P, and determined running from Felix T, but Millfield managed three more tries to leave the score looking more one-sided than it actually was. We will certainly have learned a lot from the defeat and will look to improve against Taunton School this weekend.
