The Junior Colts A team suffered a heavy defeat on Saturday as they were well-beaten by strong opponents who had made the long journey - with vocal crowd in tow - from Sussex.
In fairness, Seaford were a well-drilled and talented combination, with several Harlequins Academy players in their ranks, but this was also the home side's most disjointed showing of what has, thus far, been a season of great progress. There were simply too many errors, of both execution and decision-making, whilst the physical presence of our guests overpowered the boys in the contact area. Simply put, the away team outplayed Sherborne, displaying a great deal of rugby nous in the process.
On the few occasions that the light blues did manage to maintain possession and play at pace, they - again - looked dangerous, as evidenced by the three tries. In each case, quick ball allowed the subsequent waves to attack space, with Ptolemy G, Christian P and Hugh F the beneficiaries. Unfortunately, though, such moments were too few and far between.
So, a tough day at the office but the team has an early opportunity to bounce back as they travel to Dauntsey's on Thursday, ahead of the half term break. Do join us if you can.
