Sherborne School’s 2nd XV rugby team faced a strong and physical Taunton School side, initially absorbing a significant amount of pressure in the first half. Despite a determined defensive effort, the size and abrasiveness of the Taunton forwards caused difficulties for Sherborne, but they held firm and denied their opponents any early breakthroughs. Just before halftime, Sherborne’s patience and resilience were rewarded when they were awarded a penalty try, capitalising on their field position and applying pressure of their own. In the second half, Sherborne began to find their rhythm, moving the ball with greater fluency and exploiting space effectively. This shift in momentum led to two well-taken tries from Ben L and another from Charlie W, creating a comfortable 19-point lead. Sherborne’s attacking play in this period was sharp and decisive, showing a real improvement in their tactical execution. Although Taunton managed to cross the line for a late try, Sherborne’s defence remained tough and physical throughout the match, making it difficult for their opponents to build any sustained pressure. The final score of 26-14 reflected Sherborne’s ability to adapt and take control in the second half, securing a well-earned victory.
