This was a great way to finish the season, giving a chance for a number of fringe players to play for the team, two on debut, playing boys in different positions and seeing how they would react against a Canford side we knew we had the beating of. Hugo H laid down a marker on his debut by scoring in the second minute and although we made heavy weather of scoring due to a desire to take the ball a bit too far, Canford never threatened our line, although a penalty goal came cannoning off the post.

We scored four more tries once we decided to pass the ball. Some of them involved genuinely good handling, especially from Ude O. Ollie L continued his decent recent scoring form with two tries and Beau B also weighed in with a brace from scrum-half a new position for him: possibly the tallest to play in that position for a while.

We have come on a long way in the season and I look forward to seeing how the boys develop in the rest of their time at Sherborne. Many thanks to Mr Guy whose blend of huge rugby knowledge and interesting motivational strategies have helped give the team structure and have enabled them to develop their skills, and to all the supportive parents who have braved the conditions to see their sons in action.
