Round 1 of a double header against Clayesmore ended with honours even. Another slow start by Sherborne allowed the away side the advantage but gradually the Mini Colts grew into the game with Alf B starting to make good connections and forays down both flanks via Raff W and Ollie M looking promising. Just as they were growing in confidence, Clayesmore were allowed free men in the circle and found their way passed Ollie C. Sherborne were undaunted and continue to improve. Charlie S grew in confidence in his new defensive role, whilst James H frequently turned defence into attack. The second half saw more attacking opportunities down the left via Jake F and Jamie S and it was one of these that reached Jago L, who showed much composure to finish on the second attempt. With Freddie B regularly denying Clayesmore clear chances and Ollie C coming off his line to close down one opportunity, it was Sherborne that looked the most likely to score next but were beaten by the clock. Despite this, there was plenty of optimism within the squad ahead of the county cup on Tuesday, with the recognition that progress is being made.
