Howling wind and driving rain does not make for a pleasant game of football. Despite the conditions, the first half proved a very even match, both sides with opportunities spurned. Good attacking play often left us in the opposition box, but finishing let us down. The second half, when we should have capitalised with the wind with us, showed our lack of fitness. Numerous rolling substitutions could not stem the building threat of a fit, fast and skilful QEH side. Conceding a goal early in the second half did not perturb us, but an inability to keep up with pace of the QEH attacks and two soft goals sealed the game. That said, there were some encouraging signs. Moving round the defence left us with a solid back four, in particular the physical presence of Max D.R.
