Match Report
Sherborne School Boys-U18D vs  Queen Elizabeth's Hospital (QEH)
On: Saturday, 07 Jan 2023
Venue: tbc

A game of two halves. With a gale force wind behind them in the first half, Sherborne dominated and scored 4 goals to establish a large lead, though sloppy communication allowed QEH to nick a goal back just before half-time.

With the wind in their favour for the second half QEH dominated, and Sherborne were naïve. They had been told to defend deeper and not commit themselves upfield as a fifth or sixth goal was not needed, but some players did not listen. Within 10 minutes of the restart QEH were level. Only then did Sherborne really defend, but did so quite valiantly.

QEH finally edged ahead with 5 minutes remaining when a speculative shot squirmed through our keeper on the wet grass. QEH then showed how to defend a lead to with 10 men behind the ball, cementing their victory via a breakaway with the final kick.

A competitive match played in very difficult conditions. There were certainly some positive elements to Sherborne's play, but also lessons to learn before our next fixture.
