How wonderful to finish the season with a rousing match between two competitive and equally-matched sides, battling out an exciting game of rugby despite the December chill. Eddie E marked his final match by captaining the side and both Daniel G and Hector S made crunching tackles early on, as the team played better than ever before. Canford were strong and well-disciplined and it was little surprise that they led 17-5 at one stage. However, after Bobby S had twice scampered away, leaving defenders floundering in his wake, Daniel G made his trademark dash for the left corner to equal the scores. The stage was set for Pablo M-D, who had only just come on to the pitch as a late substitute for the final game of his rugby career in England, to crash over the line with a minute remaining and seal a memorable victory.
