JCDs vs Marlborough

Thursday November 14th

Sherborne – 5 Marlborough – 47

Sherborne had their second match this term at home against Marlborough and found this at least as challenging as the first encounter. From the outset, Sherborne found it very difficult to secure quality ball and to get some ‘go forward’ and so with Marlborough running hard and attacking from all areas, the scoreline was very much in the visitor’s favour at the break.

The second half saw an improvement from Sherborne and with ten minutes gone they scored a great try when they kept the ball for ninety seconds, winning breakdown after breakdown and putting Hugh Deary over. Marlborough upped their game and did not allow Sherborne any more opportunities, going on to score four more tries.

This was a very hard match in which tackling stood out as the most important skill to possess. The boys worked hard to stop the strong Marlborough runners and it is a pity they could not have scored one more try themselves for their efforts.

Men of the Match – Henry Gadeke – excellent tackling

Mikail Albakov – strong scrummaging and rucking

Cosmo Coppen-Gardner - Ubiquitous play in the back row.
