JCDs vs Canford Cs

Lost 54 – 10

Sherborne travelled to Canford for their third match of the season and came up against a strong ‘C’ team. Right from the kick-off, Canford ran hard at Sherborne and had soon crossed the line for what proved to be the first of several tries in that half. Sherborne were finding it very difficult to settle and found themselves constantly having to defend, but by the end of the first half had started to win some decent ball.

The second half was initially much more even, with Sherborne playing much better, but with neither side managing to score. Sherborne broke the deadlock after five minutes with a try from George May who carved his way through several defenders. Canford came back with a score, but then Angus Firth in an inspired moment, chipped the ball through, regathered and went over for an excellent individual try. This seemed to shake Canford, who upped their game to score four more tries without reply from Sherborne.

A slow start meant that Sherborne were always chasing the game, but they did have a strong spell in the second half when they were able to match the strength of Canford.

Men of the Match – Yuki Tsuzuki – some great running on the wing.

Henry Gadeke – strong tackling throughout.

Angus Firth – clever individual try.
