Match Report
Sherborne School Seniors vs  Pilgrims
On: Saturday, 01 Feb 2020
Venue: at Home

A mixture of current pupils, staff (and a last-minute substitute who also happened to be an ex-pupil) played a six strong Pilgrims team last Saturday. Although they did not have the numbers who came last year, the Pilgrims still had some National Champions amongst them. Our pupils Harry H. and Benedict M. played extremely well, winning three of their five games and narrowly lost a fourth. Their speed and power really challenged their opponents at times, and they showed they were happy on court against adult players.

It was a match which lasted three and a half hours, far longer than school matches would usually go on for, but there was some excellent Fives in that time. The overall score was closer than expected and the eventual win for The Pilgrims (172 to 195) was far from certain until the scores had been added up at the end. An excellent afternoon of Fives for all involved and it was exciting to see several generations coming together to enjoy the game.
