Junior Colts B 50 Taunton 10

A previously unbeaten Taunton team came to fortress Pitch 2 to take on a team ravaged by the Greeks (well the Greece trip anyway). It got worse as Jaego Cable was summoned to the As and Will Frost was off games; we had to pull up two C teamers Tom Hunter and Damini Ogeleye who had never even trained with us. It was superb therefore that we took the game to Taunton from the off and a quick ruck and swift hands put Nico Beeny in for a try. Although Taunton levelled it up, we then dominated the rest of the first half and tries from Henry Kingsbury, Finn Richardson and Charlie Wallis gave us an unassailable 26-5 lead at half time. Our speed of thought and movement was proving irresistible.

We conceded an early try in the second half but thoughts that Taunton might get back into the game were crushed by our forwards who won plenty of ruck ball and battered the Taunton line until Fin Ellemann was able to pop over for a score. We then had a great piece of luck or skill as Joe Young’s chip kick bounced kindly for Charlie Wallis, enjoying the freedom of full back, to catch it and outpace the cover. Kit Slim, showing his versatility at centre scored a fine try as Taunton ran out of numbers and finally Joe Young who had controlled the game well from fly half, scored a try of his own to bring up the 50 points. A fine performance from a much changed team.
