Match Report
Sherborne School Mini Colts A vs  Queen Elizabeth's Hospital (QEH)
On: Saturday, 11 Jan 2020
Venue: Away

On a very windy Saturday afternoon, the Mini Colts As came up against a very strong QEH A team. This was the first competitive match our team had played with each other. The first half saw Sherborne dictate much of the game with some wonderful passing-and-moving culminating in a number of shots. Henry Morpeth, on the right side of midfield, found himself with a shooting opportunity at the end of one passing sequence and hit a rocket of a shot into the top right corner of the goal. Some resolute defending from the back four limited QEH from having many opportunities but any they did have were well-saved by Freddie Hamilton in goal. The second half saw QEH come out with much more determination, which put Sherborne under a lot more pressure. A long speculative shot from QEH, and carried by the wind, saw the ball loop over Hamilton and into the back of the net. 1-1. Sherborne kept their heads up and re-asserted themselves in the game. The wind made shooting opportunities difficult but Man-of-the-match Joey Lye scored an excellent goal into the bottom left corner and after another well worked attack down the left side followed by a cut back to the edge of the 18 yard box for Joey to strike. 2-1. In the dying moments QEH again attacked and pressed Sherborne high up the pitch. They managed to dispossess us and sneak a goal in, which Sherborne didn’t really deserve. 2-2.
