Match Report
Sherborne School 4th XI vs  Canford School
On: Saturday, 08 Feb 2020
Venue: at Home

Sherborne 4th XI produced their best performance of the season against the toughest hockey opposition on the circuit to record a 5-1 win against Canford. A fluid, physical and skilful Sherborne team put their opposition to the sword in almost very possible way. Chandler, in the CDM role, was a constant thorn in Canford’s side combining accurate, fast passing with no small amount of dribbling. He capped a fine performance with a lovely solo goal. Youens up front was a constant menace and lulled defenders into a false sense of security before unleashing his reverse stick bamboozlers. He scored 2 goals in the match. Finn J, Seiko Y and Finn G defended serenely and made multiple crucial intercepts and tackles to keep Canford’s scoring to a lone goal. Parsons did what he always does in goal which is to frustrate the opposition. The Fourth XI is very fortunate to have such a strong keeper in the team. Mcveigh, Vincent Sanders and Arco played skilfully throughout the game and set the forwards up well in attack. Small and Clarke’s engines in midfield were too much for Canford and won most of the 50 50 collisions. Bale scored with a penalty flick early in the second half and at 5 - 0 Canford were out for the count. Pleasingly, Canford did score consolation goal towards the end that was fully deserved as they approached the match with the right attitude and played the game in exactly the right spirit – a very decent opposition in every way.
