Sherborne 15 - 17 Millfield 12/10/19

It was a tough start for the Colts B’s as a physical Millfield team started strongly, building phases early and scoring a try within 5 minutes of kick off. Sherborne's response to going behind early was spectacular, piling pressure onto Millfield and pinning them into their own 22. Unfortunately, this only resulted in 3 points for Sherborne but alas the boys were on the scoreboard via the boot of William Jonas. The scoreline remained tight at 5-3 with a more evenly contested finish to the first half.

The second period began with another barrage of Sherborne pressure, a lovely combination of structured, powerful play in the forwards and flowing rugby from the backs had Millfield again pinned in their 22. Millfield were not helping themselves with a very high penalty count. Eventually the pressure told as Kit Rowsell barreled over from close range to bring the scoreline to 10-5. A lapse in concentration and slow reacts to a Millfield penalty allowed Millfield to draw level soon after the restart. The next passage of play was much the same as the start of the second half with Sherborne dominating both territory and possession. However, an interception from Millfield's effervescent outside centre from well within his own 22 led to a Millfield try under the Sherborne posts, as he ran end to end. The last 10 minutes was again dominated by Sherborne, Harry Whigham scored a brilliantly try following an out of character George Perkins kick down field, unfortunately William Jonas was unable to add the extras. With 2 minutes left the Sherborne boys rallied but were unable to breach the Millfield defense once more leaving the result at a slightly disappointing 19-17 to Millfield.

Overall, it was a fantastic spirited performance from the boys with plenty of positives to take, however another one that the boys will feel could've been won.
