Match Report
Sherborne School Boys-U14C vs  Abingdon School
On: Saturday, 05 Oct 2019
Venue: at Home

By far the C Team’s most convincing match so far, clearly learning some valuable lessons from two tough previous matches.

The forwards were quick to the breakdown and forced some turnovers early on, keeping both teams even in the opening quarter. William Miao continued to protect the ball and Ben Smith-Bingham was quick to get over tackled Sherborne players. Abingdon then exploited a little Sherborne disorganisation, with some tries towards half time to secure a lead.

The second half was well-contested with a much more convincing defence from the back, with notable strong tackles from Tom Hunter. Continued tenacity from the forwards at the breakdown eventually set the conditions for a great break from the halfway line from George May, who hit the gas and left half a dozen would-be tacklers trailing to score under the posts.

The team agreed that next week’s focus will be on backs’ organisation, including how forwards position in open play, to better exploit cleaner work at the breakdown. We look forward to continuing this momentum. Well done.
