Match Report
Sherborne School Boys-U18B vs  King's School Bruton Boys-U18A
On: Saturday, 16 Nov 2019
Venue: Away

Lost: 14-19

The 2nd XV can feel frustrated to have lost to King's Bruton XV on Saturday where, despite a somewhat inconsistent performance, they seemed to have more than enough in the tank to win the game. Ultimately, the home side will feel that their greater control of the ball, abetted by an extraordinarily high penalty count and some curious interpretations of the Laws in their favour, meant that they deserved to come out on top. Sherborne, though, will point to several passages of the match, including its final ten minutes, where they played with a level of invention, skill and pace which was far beyond anything our opponents were able to muster. Sadly, this level wasn't sustained across the full 70 minutes and, at other times, there was a curious inertia to our play which - ultimately - cost the light blues dear. That said, it was a hard-fought contest, setting the boys up well for their last two fixtures, the first of which is away at Canford ahead of the exeat on Thursday.

Man of the Match: Fred Pettifer - an excellent debut after his late call-up from the 3rd XV.

Try: T Pettifer

Conversion: Wills

Penalty: Try
