Match Report
Sherborne School Boys-U14D vs  Radley College
On: Saturday, 14 Sep 2019
Venue: at Home

The Mini Colts D took to the pitch for their first match of the new season with a great sense of eager anticipation of all that was to come. They were set the target of focusing on two of our playing principles – namely getting the ball into space and also increasing the speed of the ball both in open play and in the tight. Unfortunately they encountered a very strong and well-drilled Radley side who made it extremely difficult to implement either of those principles. In the first period Sherborne rarely left their own half and despite some at times stout defending went in 35-0 down at the interval. There were slightly better things to come in the second half as the defence tightened somewhat more and there was overall a greater sense of purpose in the tackle. Despite this and a late rally the side went down to a handful of further tries from the slick Radley squad, who, in the end ran out winners by 54-0. Credit to Sherborne though, the boys never gave up and there was certainly a sense of resilience, even in the face of overwhelming odds. We shall seek to build on this in the weeks to come.
