Junior Colts 'C' vs Radley

Sherborne lost 53-19

The JCCs travelled to Radley for their first fixture of the season, on a very hot day and with a team that were together for the first time, some players switching positions at the last minute.

After conceding two early tries, Sherborne turned the tide towards half-time, impressively learning 'on the job' and responding well to the game. Carl-Wilhelm Furthmann was superb in defence, neutralising several opposition attacking phases with textbook tackles, and rapid in attack, scoring Sherborne's two tries of the first half. Fin Ellemann found space with some well-placed kicks and Harry Pleydell-Bouverie did a superb job at scrum-half, picking up the scraps and feeding Sherborne's attacking line, including a clinical set-up for Furthmann's second try.

The second-half saw a disciplined Radley Team come back with vigour and organisation, gaining them a few more tries. Sherborne showed plenty of heart and determination, capped off with Khalid Miah's superb run, breaking half a dozen tackles on his way to a last-minute try under the posts. A score line perhaps under-representing Sherborne's efforts on the day, but plenty to take away and some great input from parents who had travelled to support the team.

Man of the Match: Carl-Wilhelm Furthmann 'solid in defence and attack with two tries'

Tries: Furthmann (2), Miah

Conversions: Ellemann (2)
