Tries- George Duignan, Oli Carr-Smith, Oliver Senior

Penalty and conversion- Arthur Green

Man of the Match- Freddie Cole

An incredibly hot afternoon on Big Side saw a fired up Sherborne team quickest out of the blocks. Early possession and pressure lead to an attacking scrum deep in the Radley 22, from which crisp handling saw Ollie Charles break free before sending George Duignan over in the corner to lead 5-0. It was not long before Freddie Cole and Will Parry bashed their way up field and Oli Carr-Smith ghosted through midfield to score under the posts, converted by Arthur Green. 12 minutes played and 12 points up, it was a dream start.

In reply Radley fought back and scored through their No 8, after a period of attacking play. The fact that they opted to kick penalties spoke volumes, but it did mean that Sherborne infringements were punished and by half time Radley had a 6 point lead.

Another penalty took the score to 21-12 and perhaps the win was out of sight, but as I attended an injury to a B teamer Oliver Senior scored what he described as the try of the season to bring the score back to 21-17. Arthur Green soon added another penalty and we entered the final minutes just one point down.

It wasn’t to be this time as Radley scored at the death as Sherborne were chasing a winning score from deep in their own half and the Sherborne boys had to settle for a brave defeat and the knowledge that they had rattled a good Radley side.
