1st XV v Radley College

Win 42 – 0

After a positive first outing versus Bishop Wordsworth’s School the previous week, Sherborne were going into their match versus Radley College in confident mood. This, coupled with a bright sunny and dry day, meant that Sherborne wanted to put on a show for this historic and popular fixture. Sherborne got off to a flying start, scoring three quick tries, all finished by Felix C for a twenty-minute hat trick! The first two came from some clever cross-field kicking where Felix ran into space to gather the ball and score in the corner. The third was finishing a well worked team try, ending in Felix running a good line through the Radley defence. Sherborne then scored two more tries before the break with Tom C-S finishing an individual effort and Toby W getting on the score sheet again, following a magnificent offload from Freddie W.

Half time: 25-0

There was then a period of twenty minutes in the second half where Sherborne lost their discipline. Too eager to make a big hit and win individual battles resulted in two Sherborne players leaving the field of play. This allowed Radley back into the games and, to give them some credit, did so with vigour and tenacity. Sherborne held strong under numerous efforts at their try line. Tom C-S then scored another brilliant individual try to settle the nerves before Theo I and Archie W put the icing on the cake in the last ten minutes. Final Score: 42 – 0

In game that was one sided from the start, Sherborne showed that they are more than capable of beating teams within the laws of the game. They must now learn that discipline can and will cost them in tighter matches in future.

Tries: Felix (3), Tom (2), Toby, Archie and Theo
