Match Report
Sherborne School Junior Colts B vs  Malvern College
On: Saturday, 01 Feb 2020
Venue: at Home

The JCB XI got off to a positive start in the game - where their aim was to keep the ball on the floor as much as possible to enable them to control the ball and the play. For the first 20 minutes Sherborne maintained a structure which gave multiple options and they played some excellent threat balls in behind the Malvern players. After looking dangerous, the break through came off the head of Max dR who nodded in a corner kick at the back post. After that, as fatigue set in, the team resorted to the bad habit of trying to hoof and hope, with the ball being in the air and out of control. Despite this, the defence stayed strong and they got to the end of the half unscathed.

Half time allowed the Sherborne boys to re-group and refocus on the processes. The wind was behind Sherborne in the second half and the midfield made the most of the advantage. They kept the ball on the floor and played lots of threat balls in behind the defenders which led to at least 10 chances in the half. Kokhi H scored the second goal which is a contender – if not winner – for goal of the season. After receiving the ball on the front left corner of the box he took a touch to the right and curled it into the top right corner of the net with immense power. Malvern snuck one back with a composed 1-on-1 finish, and they had a few threatening moments, but Sherborne were the side to finish their chances towards the end of the game. Kit S smashed a loose ball into the top of the net from the edge of the box and minutes later scored again, beating a defender to the ball and slotting it past their goalkeeper who was out of position after a previous save.

Another solid performance with MoM being Finn E for his composed and controlled distribution of the ball throughout the match.
