Match Report
Sherborne School 4th XI vs  Malvern College
On: Saturday, 01 Feb 2020
Venue: Away

Spring arrived in Malvern at around the time our coach rolled in. Midweek rain gave way to a pleasantly warm, sunny afternoon and even the wind which had threatened to play havoc with the game abated for a while. It had been a long journey and this showed, as Sherborne never quite got going, despite the enterprise and the huff and puff on display. The firm back three of captain Michael Heyman, Tom Talbot and Ed Jones was supported by wing-backs in Louis Hawkes and Alex Hobbs; Oliver Lampert and Yuriy Belykh tried hard in central midfield but were outplayed by more proficient opposition; Max Pugsley, Finlay Cooper, Jack Leaf and substitute Harry Cook offered attacking options. However, it was goalkeeper Tim Taylor who stole the show, with a wonderful display of brave goalkeeping to keep down a score which could have embarrassed the side. On top of a string of great saves, one brave first-half dive at a oppnents' feet stood out. The best save of the lot came towards the end of the match, as he twisted in mid-air to tip a rasping drive up onto the bar and away to safety. The side is back in action next Saturday at Marlborough.
